Since it garnered a 12-minute standing ovation at its Cannes Film Festival debut last May, Elvis, the Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic of the legendary crooner starring Austin Butler, had secured its spot as the blockbuster of the summer even before its June 24 release.

Along with it, an Elvis renaissance has been afoot too. It was felt on Tuesday evening when party guests like Larry Milstein, Edward Barsamian, Alexander Hankin, and Igee Okafor donned Elvis-inspired looks for an advanced screening of the film hosted by Manolo Blahnik and Zachary Weiss, who appropriately donned a pair of tasseled blue suede shoes for the occasion.

“We’ve designed custom shoes for several films in the past, from Moulin Rouge! to Marie Antoinette, but this is our first time designing men’s shoes for a film,” Kristina Blahnik, the company’s CEO, told Vogue ahead of the screening. “We always love working with Baz and (costume designer) Catherine Martin, but this really was a momentous occasion for us.”

On display were three of the standout, custom-made pairs of men’s footwear seen in the film, including one pair of sleek, white calf leather boots that even intrigued the female guests, Elizabeth Kurpis, Michelle Madonna, and Marjorie Gubelmann among them. “I’d wear those in a heartbeat,” Gubelmann quipped. “Perfect for a little disco.”
